The Apu (mountain energy) Ausangate is the most representative of the city of Cusco, being the largest mountain in Cusco with 6384 meters being the 5th highest in Peru.
Culturally the city of Cusco has 7 Apus protectors and Ausangate is one of them, although historically the protectors of Cusco did not protect the Inkas from the Spanish invasion it is said that the battle is not over, thanks to a messianic prophecy of Inkari. Today Qollority is a mountain near Ausangate and is famous for a pilgrimage festival held before the anniversary of Cusco, with strong Inka cultural roots and decorated with Christian influence.
