Overview
Cusco city
Cusco is a historic city in the southern Andean region of Peru, famous for its Inca past and colonial architecture. The city center is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is home to emblematic sites such as the Plaza de Armas, Q’oricancha (place of gold – although they have already taken everything), Inka streets, traditional neighborhoods and Inka palaces on which Colonial Cusco was built.
It is the common starting point for visiting Machu Picchu and the Sacred Valley of the Incas, making it an essential tourist destination in South America.
Cusco was the capital of the Inka civilization, which is why history and mysteries are found in this city. The historic center is highly touristic, for which it has all the services and entertainment. Its location in the Andes makes for easy walks of some length. Very close to the city, you can leave and enter Cusco on foot and an ideal place to be part of the local culture is to visit the central market of San Pedro.
It will not be a coincidence to find llamas in the historic center to tempt you with some photos.
