Overview

Sacred Valley

The Sacred Valley is a region in the Peruvian Andes near the city of Cusco. It is known for its natural beauty, its rich cultural history, and for being the only place in the world where the giant corn plant grows. The Willkamayu (Urubamba) River flows through the valley, which is surrounded by mountains and glaciers, and the entire valley is covered with fields and agricultural terraces built by the Incas.

It is an important tourist destination because it has numerous archaeological sites, sacred places, astronomical observatories, its characteristic handicraft market and cultural festivals. The Sacred Valley is a cool region of the Inca culture to learn about the traditions of the Incas.
