Ausangate Trek

This adventure begins with a tour from Cusco to Upis, with views of some places to better understand the culture and history where we are entering. Upis is at the base of Ausangate, in the afternoon we will begin with the epic landscapes of Ausangate (lakes and glaciers).

The following days our legend will begin in the Andes, we will go up and down many mountains, every day we will discover new faces of nature and the Inka culture will transport us in time to understand and have a better contact with nature, in this way we will get closer to the therapeutic goal of IntiTravel.Org and its commitment to life.

This adventure is centered on Ausangate but we will also visit the rainbow mountain, having better angles and views of the surrounding mountains. If we are very lucky we will see some of the wildlife of the Andes. At the end of this adventure we will visit the Pajchanta thermal baths as the grand finale of this experience with nature.

During this expedition we will often use the terms Apu and Cocha, Apu is the energy of the mountain and is commonly used as a deity and cocha means lake, these words are in Runasimi (Inka language).

We will leave Cusco towards Ausangate following the direction of the southern valley, in this part of the journey we will visit Pikillacta, an archaeological center older than the Inka evidence, with a city of 2 square kilometers and Andahuaylillas, a colonial church full of artistic works in gold, These visits prior to the Ausangate trek adventure will help us better understand the history of the place that will create unforgettable moments in our journey. We will arrive at the Upis camp (4437 m) where we will meet our entire team for the expedition. After lunch we will begin the adventure trekking to visit Upiscocha and be impressed by the Apu Ausangate.

Descending we will reach the place between rocks where we will have lunch, in the afternoon the road will take us between mountains and lagoons to Pucacocha

Having more experience in the Andean territory, this day we will cross 2 passes: Puca pass (4870 m) and Warmisaya pass (5050 m). It is on this day where we begin to deviate from the traditional circuit of Ausangate trek with the purpose of increasing our experience with the rainbow mountain, lunch will be between the 2 passes, after the fascinating benefits of nature we will descend to the Yanacocha camp (4487) and enjoy of epic memories.

We will start the morning directly to the rainbow mountain, because being a trendy destination it is filled with thousands of visitors who leave at 3 am. from Cusco. Ascents and descents will be part of our destination to reach Quesouno (lunch), from where the path will be gradual between 2 mountains to return to the Ausangate trek circuit, we will camp at Ausangate Cocha (4700 m).

Upon arriving at the camp we will have lunch and in the afternoon we will visit the famous circuit: 7 lagoons.
