Inka Journey

We will start with your acclimatization by taking you to the Sacred Valley and the Andes will show you their amazing landscapes to increase the emotions of your adventure.
We will visit amazing Inca remains throughout the Sacred Valley, exploring the high plateaus to be enchanted by the wonderful beauty of the Andes decorated with Inkan constructions that blend in with nature, hiking on inca trails through the Sacred Valley will take us to Machupicchu.

These days will teach us much about the life of the Inka ancestors and will take on greater significance as we enter Cusco, capital city of the Inka civilisation, its imposing city walls and buildings outside the city will show us that reality surpasses fiction. From the viewpoints we will see the mountains that surround Cusco and destination of the following days, culturally these mountains are the guardians of the ancestral city.

The following days we will have trekking expeditions to visit the most important and highest mountain in Cusco, Ausangate (6384 m) and we will take the opportunity to visit the Rinbow mountain, we will also visit Salkantay (6271 m) and the Humantay lake, with relaxing days during the outdoor activities to create your Inka Journey experience.

From the airport we will make our way to the Sacred Valley, on the way we will visit a breeding place of Andean camelids: llamas, alpacas, vicuñas and huanacos, the viewpoint of the valley will be mandatory to enjoy the wonderful scenery and thus be welcomed to the land of the Incas. Visit the Inca city of Pisa’q, then its charming traditional market. Overnight in the Sacred Valley.

We will drive to the heights of the Sacred Valley to reach Ciwar, the village where the trek begins. The road will take us through plantations overlooking the great Sacred Valley of the Inkas, from the village of Pucamarka a stream will lead us to the mysterious Pumapunku Canyon (Door of the Puma). The Inca Trail provides easy access and increases the excitement level to reach Huchuyq’osqo (Little Cusco). We will increase the excitement with mountain bikes (optional) to descend to the Sacred Valley (Calca), our transportation will take us to Ollantaytambo, we will visit the Inca village and the fascinating archaeological site.

We will take the train to Chachabamba (KM 104) Inca Trail checkpoint, the suspension bridge will increase the desire to continue, little by little the Inca Trail structures and gradually increase the scenic sensations ascending to reach Wiñaywayna, the most amazing archaeological site of the Inca Trail. In the afternoon we will reach the mountain and Intipunku (Sun Gate) will give us the first view of Machupicchu in the middle of all the mountains in the form of protectors. Then we will take the bus down to the city of Aguas Calientes.

The most awaited day has arrived! We will enter Machupicchu, the emblem of our culture, and live an experience that will take us back to the time of the Incas. A unique mystical panorama, surrounded by the beauty of the mountains, this visit will reveal the knowledge of the Inca life. We will have lunch at a restaurant near Machupicchu. In the afternoon we take the train back to Cusco.

We will have a relaxing day or something like that, in the afternoon we will have some discoveries to raise the level of the journey.

Cusco will be the beginning of this adventure following the direction of the south valley, in this part of the journey we will visit Pikillacta, an archaeological centre older than the Inkas evidence, with a city of 2 square kilometres and Andahuaylillas, a colonial church full of art. Works in gold, these visits previous to Andes adventure will help us to understand better our history and culture to have a better experience in this part of the Andes mountain range, place that will create unforgettable moments in our trip. We will arrive at Phinaya (4800 m) is the place where we will camp and where we will meet our expedition team.

In the andes the days start very early and it will not be the exception in our andes adventure, not because we have a lot to do but rather to calibrate our biological clock for the neuronal benefits to approach the therapeutic purpose of IntiTravel.Org. We will start with a trek of 9 km, only in the morning, taking calmly our desire to explore more to adapt to the altitude and to fulfill satisfactorily all that the andes has for us later, after 3 hours of walking we will arrive to Ccasccana camp.

– Minimum altitude: 4700 m Ccasccana camp.

Little by little we will get used to the wild life of the Andes and so we will have the satisfaction of reaching Ccasccana pass (5000 m), we will also get to know the local culture and the Apus of the whole territory, in Yayamari we will have lunch with the view of Sibinacocha, cocha is a word in runasimi (Inka language) that means lake. The camp will be at the head of the lake with a view of the lake.

– Minimum altitude: 4873 m Ccasccana camp.

Continuing with the tradition of adventure, we will climb the Condor pass (5400 m) accompanied by fascinating scenery that only the Andes can offer, being surprised by the beauty of the shapes and colours of the lakes that will increase the emotions between the glaciers that decorate this Andean adventure.

– Minimum altitude: 4800 m Condor pass camp.

The ascent route will give us the most epic reward of all this adventure, we will have landscapes of glaciers in several directions and among them will be the Apu Ausangate (6384 m) one of the highest in southern Peru and the highest in the region of Cusco, culturally this mountain is one of the guardians of Cusco. We descend to Yanamayo camp.

On this day we will gradually descend to the Huchuyphinaya camp between the 2 immense mountains that make this adventure possible, bringing us closer and closer to the territory of the Apu Ausangate. Every day we will have the opportunity to be surprised by nature and wildlife, discovering every day new ancestral secrets that make life possible in these territories of hostile geography.

From this camp we are already on the traditional circuit of Ausangate trek, to give the size of this imposing mountain in our experience, we will start ascending to the Palomani pass (5327 m) in direct direction to Ausangate. It will undoubtedly be a challenge and an experience that will amaze us with the amazing scenery.

We will leave the traditional Ausangate circuit to include Rainbow Mountains in our adventure. We will follow the valley that forms the mouth of the Ausangate cocha, entering the culture of the inhabitants of the area, the colorful geography of the area will show us that we are close to Rainbow Mountain (5200 m) which is in trend and very visited. The ascent will be very rewarding with all the scenery that makes this place a trendy place.

It will be a challenging day, with our adventurous experience it will be easier to climb 2 steps in one day, at the same time we will have the opportunity to enjoy several faces of nature that will fill not only the memory of the cameras, but rather the spirit and maybe we can even hear it. Arriving at the Arapa pass (4800 m) the last of our Andes Adventure, we will be able to look back, remember moments that only few can live with nature and look ahead, with the little that is left but with many memories that will be part of our life.

In this camp there are thermal baths and we can continue with this natural therapy. After the last traditional lunch we will take our transport to Cusco.

We will have a relaxing day or something like that, in the afternoon we will have some discoveries to raise the level of the experience.

We will leave Cusco and go to the viewpoint of the condors in Chonta (3400 m). On the way we will visit Killarumillo’q (stone moon, 3500 m), the Salkantay glacier viewpoint (wild, 6279 m) and the archaeological complex of Tarawasi (tara house, 2654 m) We will have a 3.5 km hike to reach the Condors viewpoint, we will have the most amazing landscape of the Andes mountain range. Then our transportation will take us to Soraypampa (3900 m), the base camp.

We start the hiking along the slopes of the Salkantay and Humantay glaciers. We will head towards the Humantay Lagoon (4200 m.) and a great reward awaits us when we arrive and have in front of us the unique colors of the lagoon and the glacier. Then we will return to Cusco, stoping in a misterius place for our last adeventure of the area.

We will explore the surroundings of the city of Cusco and stroll through the Inca streets of the city. Outside the city is Saqsayhuaman, famous for its walls of gigantic proportions, evidence of great engineering, Q’enqo astronomical center and then we continue in our transportation that will take us to Pucapucara (red fort, 3700 m) from where we will have the mountain panorama of the guardians of Cusco. In the city and visit Q’oricancha (place of gold).
